The question
What Are You Grateful For Today? is a public gratitude, storytelling, engagement, and giving initiative of Dawn’s Heart. It is not a separate nonprofit, charity, corporation, or foundation.
The path is simple: notice something good, name it, and then decide whether to keep it, share it, or pass it on.
Dawn’s Heart
Dawn’s Heart turns gratitude into action by helping people through life-changing hardship, mobilizing communities to meet immediate needs, and creating pathways toward greater stability, opportunity, and hope.
Inspired by a personal journey through Stage 4 cancer and the power of people helping people, Dawn’s Heart begins with cancer patients and families while extending compassion across the Tampa Bay community through practical assistance, volunteer service, and opportunities for self-sufficiency.
The brand line is “Dawn Starts in the Heart.”
George S. Bernardich
Founder
Dawn’s Heart was inspired by founder George S. Bernardich’s journey after his November 15, 2023 diagnosis with Stage 4 lung adenocarcinoma, and by the support, prayer, and kindness he experienced.
His treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center and the support of family, friends, faith communities, physicians, and those who pray for him made gratitude a daily practice.
The question that followed was, “What am I grateful for today, and how can that gratitude help someone else?” Dawn’s Heart and What Are You Grateful For Today? grew from that answer.
Faith and prayer are part of George’s own experience. They are not a condition for receiving help.
Where it begins
The question began in St. Petersburg. Someone can ask it anywhere. The charitable work of Dawn’s Heart begins in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, and Tampa Bay.
The circle
Someone is grateful. They act. Someone’s life gets better. That person has something new to be grateful for. And the circle continues.
