WAYGFT? What Are You Grateful For Today? A Dawn’s Heart Initiative

Opportunity and self-sufficiency

Skilled Trades Legacy Project

Helps motivated people enter and complete existing training, apprenticeship, and employment pathways by using available resources first, then addressing a remaining barrier.

Planning

This project is in planning. It is not accepting applications, and no funding is being offered.

Pathways to careers and self-sufficiency. Place on the continuum: Stability to opportunity. Intended result, when the work can be measured: Participants enter training, complete it, become employed, and remain employed.

Last dollar, then last mile

  • Last dollar

Use public workforce programs, apprenticeships, employers, scholarships, grants, and other available assistance before Dawn’s Heart funds a remaining gap. No workforce partner is confirmed.

  • Last mile

Examples of remaining barriers include tools, boots and protective equipment, transportation, certification testing, a tuition gap, emergency stabilization, mentoring, and employer connections.

Pathways under consideration

These trades are exploratory examples. They are not open programs, and no employer or school is a confirmed partner.

  • Electrical
  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Construction and carpentry
  • Utility and infrastructure

The intended measurement sequence, once a pilot can be measured, is entered training, completed, employed, and retained at 90, 180, and 365 days. That sequence is not a promise to a participant.
